Back in time

                                     CHAPTER ONE

The feeling was claustrophobic in fact, extremely disappointing.  How could this be?  Yemi felt really Isolated as she sank into the couch. She stood up again feeling extremely restless and began pacing furiously. After a while, her phone rang and she deliberated on ignoring it. She stared at the phone briefly before eventually deciding to pick it up.
"Good day ma'am, she's awake and requests to see you." "Ok, thanks a lot." Immediately, she hurried to the hospital and was extremely saddened at the state she found her aunt. This was a woman that was extremely healthy right before she married Chibuike barely a year and some months ago. His mother started complaints about God knows what and everyone ignored her. She got pregnant, was delivered of a beautiful baby girl they named Chidera just yesterday. Suddenly, after allegedly screaming in her sleep yester - night, her aunt's been bedeviled with this strange ailment. She glanced at her watch. It was already 6pm, exactly twelve hours since her aunt's ailment has begun and she wasn't getting any better. Just then, Aunt Dunni opened her eyes and held Yemi's hands. "Yemi, ejo help me take..." She suddenly began having spasms of whooping cough. Each time she coughed, she spat out blood. Immediately, Yemi ran out of the room screaming for the doctor or nurses on duty. As soon as they heard her screams, they hurriedly went to her aunt's bed. By then she had stopped coughing and lay comatose. After a few seemingly endless checks, she was pronounced dead. It saddened her so bad infact, Yemi couldn't explain just how she felt at the moment. The pain was so intense that all she could do was weep silently, holding her chest as she stared at her aunt's lifeless body. Not long after, Chibuike (Aunt Dunni's husband) and Aunt Yemi (Dunni's elder sister), rushed in. New set of outcries began. Such a waste! Oh! What a shame!

Yemi watched in shock as her mother (Dunni's eldest sister), announced that Chibuike had found another woman wanted to marry. He was already set to settle down barely a year and two months after her aunt's mysterious, albeit painful death. The nerve of the bastard!!  Ho could he do this to Aunt Dunni? Her aunt deserved to be mourned for up to five years, she was such a wonderful woman. What happened to the forever he promised her? No matter what, she deserved to be mourned a lot longer. Her husband should be too aggrieved to remarry, yet. At least he had said he loved her so much... MEN!!
Days later, she got news that Chibuike had been convinced to wait for ten more months before remarrying. At exactly two years after Aunt Dunni's death, her 'Dearest' husband remarried, doing a greater society wedding than the one he did with his 'first and only love.' Yemi couldn't help the bitterness she felt, even months after Chibuike's wedding. His mom was suspected for the death of Aunt Dunni though they were all just suspicions. The woman was allegedly very diabolical though. For three days straight, Yemi kept wishing she could go back in time to fix some things. As far as she was concerned, Aunt Dunni made the biggest mistake of her life by getting married to Chibuike.
Two weeks later, Yemi fell asleep one afternoon after doing some hectic chores. Not long after, she had the strangest dream ever. She was given a pill by a woman in a brown overall gown, whose face wasn't visible. She took it, staring at the woman in curiosity. "We have your great desire to help your aunt correct her mistakes. That pill would enable you to do that. Once you take the pill now, you'd go back in time, three hours everyday. Note that three hours in the present equals two days in the past. You have just one month in the present to change history, including yours." The woman vanished and Yemi put the pill in her mouth and chewed. It tasted just like honey. As soon as she finished chewing and swallowing, she woke up panting seriously.
Days later, Yemi pranced round her room, still trying to figure out her strange dream. Her eyes caught Drew's picture and she smiled sadly, wishing things hadn't ended so abruptly. She just couldn't shake off the feeling that Andrew would have been the best man for her. She looked away from the picture and glanced at her watch. She had five hours before having to prepare for her presentation. She yawned sleepily deciding to sleep for about three hours. After setting her alarm to ensure she didn't over sleep, she crawled into bed still wondering what her strange dream had meant. She shook her head. How the hell does someone go back in time?

Yemi awoke with a start and couldn't help yawning tiredly. Why the hell didn't her alarm ring? She was sure she hardly missed... Wait; she stared at her bed. Why was it positioned This way? She was damn sure she changed its position about four years back... OMG! Isn't this the bedsheet she'd burnt long ago? How come it was still looking new and she was lying on it? She jumped out of bed. What the hell was going on here?! She looked around, shocked. How come all the thing she's changed, thrown away or burnt were still in her room? She was jolted out of her reverie by the sound of her phone ringing. How come the song playing was Alon's no more you rather than... Wait; wasn't this her old phone? Where the hell was her current tablet? She checked the caller ID... Drew. What the hell?! She picked up the phone. "Hello?" "Hey baby how are you?" "I'm fine." "Been tryna call you for hours now... Don't forget our date at daffodils today o...!" Shit! She remembered this date like it was just happening. The last romantic date she had with Drew before... She sighed, hung up and sat on the ground in obvious confusion. Had she really gone back in time? She checked the date on her phone. 5th March 2014; the day she lost Drew... SHIT!!!

Jumping to her feet, she hurried to her phone. She had to save Drew, she couldn't let him die again. Losing him has been too painful now, she had a chance to fix it. She wouldn't forgive herself if she let the past repeat itself.  "Hello? Drew are you at home?" "Yes but, I was preparing to come over and see you. Are you okay? The sounded when I called earlier..." "I'm fine but, I was emmm wondering if we could hangout at your place; as in I mean I don't feel like going out." He silent for a while before replying. "Now I'm convinced that something is terribly wrong. You've always wanted to go to Daffodils and was so excited I asked... How can you suddenly change your mind." "It's not like that... I promise I'll explain it all when I come okay? He was too silent and she almost thought he needed more convincing, knowing how mule headed he could be. She groaned inwardly. The last thing she intended doing was telling him he'd die of they went to daffodils. Wouldn't that make her seem like some sort of crazy freak or psycho? "If you insist, fine. Come over." She nearly screamed in Joy. THANK GOD! "Thanks boo, I'll make it worth your while I promise " She hung up feeling very victorious.
As she prepared to see Drew, Aunt Dunni came visiting. "Yemisi!" She hurried out to answer her. Some features of Aunt Dunni's visit were the goodies she always brought, disregarding the fact that her niece was a full graduate and no longer a ten year old girl. Another feature, was that she never settled down without shouting Yemi's name... As she took her aunt's things inside, her phone rang and she picked it up. From the tone of Aunt Dunni's voice, she could tell that it was Chibuike. Action time... At least they weren't getting married yet. She needed to destroy their relationship. She had no idea how she'd pull that off but, she knew she had to do it and do it fast.
Seeing Drew again was such an amazing pleasure. She hugged and kissed him like her life depended on it. Only God knew how long she had wished for only one day with him. He smiled at her, she holding unto her, even after she tried letting him go. "I was so scared that I pissed you off or did something wrong. It's obvious I didn't. Thank God." She smiled and he carried to a couch and sat first before placing her on his laps. So why did you change your mind?" She sighed inwardly, thinking of how best to answer the question. She cleared her throat. "Emmm... The thing is, I kinda had a dream about us being involved in an accident on our way back from Daffodils. I lost you though I survived..." He burst into a hearty laughter. "When did you become Yemi the dreamer? I thought you don't believe in dreams?" She rolled her eyes at the way he pronounced 'dream' like it was the most preposterous idea ever... "I took a nap so..." He laughed so hard that she nearly fell of his laps. He repositioned her and paused. "Nap...? Are for real...?" "What's so funny about what I said? Abeg let's forget this matter. Did you cook?" "Hell no! I don't have that strength jare!" She smiled and made to get up and go to the Kitchen. He held her back. I ordered for something and don't ask what it is, it's a surprise. It's going to take some time arriving though, so we'd have time for this." Before she could wonder what 'this' was, he lowered his lips to hers.
Hours later, she walked into the kitchen, feeling estatic and sated. She really missed feeling this way. She began doing the dishes. Not long after, she he walked into the kitchen. "Baby something just came up now and I need to hurry out. I promise I'd be back before you know it." She nodded. He kissed her thoroughly and then hurried out. Ten minutes later, she glanced at the clock. 8pm... Her eyes widened. The exact time she lost Drew four years back. SHIT!!
